Benguerra Island

Benguerra Island is a small tropical island in the protected Bazaruto Archipelago off the coast of Mozambique. It's known for powder-white beaches, turquoise Indian Ocean waters, coral reefs, luxury eco-resorts, dhow sailing, horseback riding on the beach, and some of the best diving and snorkeling in southern Africa.



Why it's special

Part of the Bazaruto Archipelago National Park, a marine reserve with rich biodiversity.

Home to coral reefs, sea turtles, manta rays, whales (seasonally), and one of the world's last populations of dugongs.

Much less developed than destinations like the Maldives or Seychelles, giving it a remote, castaway feel.
